Silas Porter
DMD
Dr. Silas Porter grew up right down the road in Edgewood New Mexico and attended the University of New Mexico where he received his undergraduate degree in Biology. Dr. Porter later attended Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health which is where he learned to practice dentistry at various community health centers around the state of Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, and earned his DMD degree. Some of the highlights of his education include being able to practice in a variety of locations and participate in a dental mission to Atoyac Mexico helping out the locals with free dental care. He has also participated in dental charity events such as “Give Kids a Smile” in Arizona and Texas, and more locally has participated in the “Mission of Mercy” held in Las Cruces, NM.
While in Arizona, Dr. Porter met and married his wife Larissa and they enjoy living in Gallup with their daughters June and Kate. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Porter enjoys many hobbies which include woodworking, motocross, team roping, camping, and spending time with his family and friends.
Dr. Porter has worked in a variety of settings including public health and private practice, he enjoys finding creative solutions to help you with your smile and will do everything within his power to find ways to work within your budget. He spent time in Las Cruces where he received additional training in oral surgery techniques and implant placement. This is where he developed a love for technology and implemented it into his practice. He has enjoyed bringing this enthusiasm for technology to Porter Dental here in Gallup.
Dr. Porter knows how important a good smile is, and enjoys being able to be a factor in helping others improve their oral health. He has spent a fair amount of time in a dental chair himself and understands that it can sometimes be uncomfortable. He strives to help others feel comfortable in the chair and to provide quality care in a timely manner. Dr. Porter is happy to be able to help serve the people of Gallup, and enjoys seeing healthy smiles around town!
Minh Tuan Do
DMD
Dr. Minh Tuan Do is the newest addition to the Porter Dental family. Born in Vietnam and raised in Texas, Dr. Do carries with him a deep sense of cultural understanding and an appreciation for the many different stories patients bring with them into the dental chair. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Dentistry, where he attended on numerous scholarships and graduated with Distinctions in both Research and Education.
His commitment to excellence has been recognized through several honors, including top rankings in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics, High Honors during his final two clinical years, the Dr. Randall Aonett Academic Career Exploration “ACE” Award, and the Geriatrics Clinic Student of the Year Award for his dedication to caring for elderly patients. Currently, Dr. Do is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (FICOI) and a Fellow in Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD).
While practicing dentistry the last several years in Texas, Dr. Do met his fiancée Jenna Mai, and the two are pleased to join the wonderful community of Gallup. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Do enjoys staying active through badminton training and competitions, exploring the restaurants, trails, and hidden corners of New Mexico, and reading or picking up new skills whenever he can. Dr. Do is fluent in English and Vietnamese. His presence at Porter Dental will enable our office the ability to communicate fluently in 4 different languages! We are very excited to have him join the team and look forward to increasing our ability to provide oral health care to and serve the great folks of Gallup and the surrounding communities!
Similar to Dr. Porter, Dr. Do is committed to providing excellent, compassionate, individualized care. He takes the time to meet each patient, listen to their concerns, and understand what matters most to them before recommending any treatment. His goal is to find a solution that fits your needs, your goals, and your budget.
Dr. Do will be joining the team this July! Please give him the Gallup welcome and who knows, someday he may ride a Buffalo! We are so thankful for all of you!

I was born and raised in Gallup. I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene in 1998. I have spent the last 23 years working in this office. During this time, I have met many people who have become my friends and I have truly enjoyed watching their families grow!
My husband Ben and I have been married for 23 years and we have 3 children, Matt, Chris and Madison. In my spare time I love watching my kids play sports, traveling, watching movies and spending time with family.
